How to care for your bouquet — florist tips from Almari Flowers
A fresh bouquet lasts longer if you do a few simple things on the very first day. Below are instructions for a wrapped bouquet and for an arrangement in a box or basket.

Wrapped bouquet
Remove the wrapping, but do not cut the ribbon that ties the bouquet: it holds the shape of the arrangement.
Pour clean cool water into a clean vase.
Trim the stems by 1–2 cm at an angle with a sharp knife or pruning shears. Remove any leaves and thorns that would sit below the waterline.
Add flower food: 1/3 of a sachet per vase.
Every 2–3 days change the water, trim the stems by 1 cm again and add flower food.
Keep the bouquet in a cool place, away from direct sunlight, radiators, draughts and a bowl of fruit: fruit speeds up the wilting of flowers.
Bouquet in a box or basket
Such arrangements are made in floral foam (oasis) soaked in water. The water evaporates, so add a glass of water to the foam every day: it must not dry out.
Do not remove or rearrange the flowers: a hole remains where a stem was, and the flower gets water less well.
Carefully remove wilted flowers so they do not spoil their neighbours.
Keep the arrangement in a cool place, away from direct sunlight.
If a flower droops
Trim the stem and put the flower in cool water. A hydrangea can be submerged entirely, together with the bloom, for 20–30 minutes. For lilies, carefully remove the pollen from the stamens: it leaves stains. Tulips keep growing and stretching, and 5–10 cm of water is enough for them. Peonies like coolness and open in 2–3 days.
